Geocache Description:

As Canadians, we take pride in our starry skies, northern lights, and large stretches of wilderness. Saskatchewan's vast open landscape holds above it some of the darkest skies in Canada, and as such some of the best places for astronomical observing. This series of caches is named after the stars and constellations you may see as you look up.

Beta Gruis (HIP 112122)

Beta Gruis is a red giant star in the constellation Grus. At 177 light years away, it is the 59th brightest star in the Earth's sky, where it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 2.07. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 34.7 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,100 and 27,300 light years from the center of the Galaxy.

Sky position: RA 22h 42.7m, Dec -46° 52.8'
