King Kai or Kaiosama
is a Divine being or God that resides on a very small planet. He knows many strong techniques and has a vast knowledge of pretty much everything in the universe. Occassionly when the universe is out of balance and the forces of evil are prevailing. King Kai will impart his great knowledge and techniques to select good characters (cachers)
However to get to King Kai's place you must travel along Snake Way.
Snake way is an extremely long path that links the gates of heaven and hell to King Kai's planet. Very few have braved this long journey. At the moment two evil saiyans Nappa and Vegita are on there way to destroy the world. King Kai has vital information in defeating these foes so you must travel the entire Snake Way to find him. In this case Hanta Road (The Okinawan version of Snake Way)
Now for the cache: This is a long but very fun multi cache that is half a puzzle cache/multi cache. But because you will need to visit many different sites (phyical and vitual) along the Hanta Road I have classified it as a multi cache. The first half of this cache you are required to gather information from the many historical information markers along the road. This information will give you the coords to find the first phyiscal stage of the cache. The second half will be a typical multi style cache that follows the Hanta Road all the way to somewhere near Nakagusuku Castle. King Kai's place (the final stage) is found somewhere near a forbidden haunted hotel where US military and all SOFA people are banned from going. But don't worry you don't have to go near the hotel grounds so you will not be breaking any regulations.
I decided not to show the waypoints of all the historical information markers because this cache should be done totally on foot. Otherwise people will do their best to park as close as possible to each waypoint which in my opinion takes away most of the fun for this cache. The Hanta Road used to be a major highway between ruling castles from the 13th century to World War II. And in those days the only way to travel was on foot so we cachers must do the same to get a feel of ancient times. Also this cache represents the Snake Way from Dragon Ball which took forever for our hero Son Goku to finish. Just like it will take you. Ha Ha! All together you will need to use 8 of the information markers. Which look like this.
or this :
The starting coords are where you will answer the first question. After that walk all the way to the given waypoint N 26 16.072 E 127 47.009, stopping along the way to answer all of the following questions below to get the coords to the first physical stage.
first physical stage
North 26 A.BCD East 127 E.FGH
The markers are not in order so make sure you check the title carefully. The markers are all written in Japanese and English and all in plain sight on the side of the path.
Please note:
* The marker titled "Wakananbaru" is smaller than the others and the title "Wakananbaru" is written in the middle blue section.
* When counting river words, compound words count as well upriver and downriver. After you correctly answered all the questions while enjoying your walk and learning Okinawan History you are now half way there. You should have coords that lead to the first physical cache. However your questions and history lessons need not end here for at this point you'll be very near the starting point for the 2nd half of the Hanta Road. Please see Hanta Road (snake way) to Genkitama So as you look for the stages of this cache you can do the historical questions for the other cache at the same time. Both caches follow the Hanta Road until near the end where both finals are located. So you can get two Dragon Ball caches after all the long hard work. Also there are several other caches right on or near this path. Some of which are very close to the history information markers. So you can make it a most fulfilling day of walking/caching. Geo-caching is an outdoor hobby after all.
Finally finding King Kai will give you a puzzle piece to find a Dragon Ball.
The terrain rating for this cache is high due to the large amount of walking involved. The path is mainly a stone path which all the family can enjoy. I have done this road a few times on my bike but had to carry it up and down hundreds of steps. Oh, and sometimes the path can get a bit overgrown with long grass on both sides so there is a chance to encounter a snake.
