Kilroy was here? No, but evidently Nathan was. You’ll know why when you get here.
This is my third cache in this park. They are all up high, so you’ll get rewarded with some great views, even if you don’t find the cache. If you want a good workout, do all three during the same trek.
There is no short cut to this one, so plan accordingly. You can hike, run, or bike the 3.7 miles one-way to the cache from either end of the park, with about 2500 feet of altitude gain & loss. You can go all the way on good trails, although the last half mile or so is a bit overgrown. If you’re bushwacking, you’re off course. Be sure to bring water in summer, but I left some at the cache in case you forget. Keep an eye out for the wildlife. I’ve seen bobcats, coyotes, fox, eagles, snakes (watch it!), and lots of cows.
The container is an ammo can. The original contents were:
- 2 small bottles of water (please only take one if you need it.)
- Pocket tool (nice!)
- Bicycle tire repair kit
- Compass/whistle key chain
- Matchbox car
- Matchbox airplane
- Nylon stuff sack
- Leather luggage tag
- Log book, pen, pencil
