UPDATE - 13th January 2015
All stages are back up again.
Note: In the meantime construction works are carried out at the old, "forgotten" part of the Rochester Park. But all stages of this cache are well outside construction sites and you can still have a nice walk through the backyard of the Rochester Park.
Finally, my very first own geocache!
Built in the 1940s, the 40 colonial black- and-white bungalows at Rochester Park used to house British military servicemen in Singapore. After the departure of the British forces in 1971, Rochester Park was turned over to the Singapore government.
Some of the bungalows were rented out to cater for very beautiful restaurants. Due to that Rochester Park has been transformed into a dining and lifestyle destination that celebrates the park’s old-world charm.
You might already know the dining places which are inside some refurbished old black-and-white houses. But there is more than just the fancy restaurants. Rochester Park still has many old, abandoned black-and-white houses which you usually don't get close to nor see. This cache will lead you around the Rochester Park area within 1 hour. Afterwards you have plenty of choices where you can refresh yourself from the 1.8 km walk.
The first stage is at the published coordinates where you already have to fulfill the first task to find final GZ location.
Final GZ location is at:
N 01° 18.(c) with (c) = v*30+y+z+10 =...
E 103° 47.(d) with (d) = z*10+w-v+x =...
For other stages refer to the waypoints listed as part of this cache. Some stages consist of a container where you will be told where to find the next clues, some stages just require to get pieces of the final coords.
Note: Except for the final cache you will never have to leave paved paths for more than 1 meter or so. So no bashing at all is required.
The cache itself is a 380ml camouflaged container that contains at first a logbook and a toy for the FTF. So bring your own pen.
Many, many thanks to Mariella1012 for doing a trial caching with me and showing where little adjustments were needed. Much appreciated!!
Happy geocaching!
