TEMPORARILY DISABLED DUE TO THE ADJACENT LANDOWNER OBJECTING TO GEOCACHERS STRAYING ONTO HIS LAND AND LETTING THEIR DOGS RUN LOOSE. IT WILL BE RELOCATED ASAP. #04 of the Junction Ramble Series. This walk is not only adjacent to an important railway junction, it is also sandwiched inside a hydrological junction.
To the West the river Wharfe is nearing its long journey from the Yorkshire Dales. To the East the river Ouse has passed York and is becoming tidal. The two will soon join not far from here. This means the whole area around us is one giant flood plain, which is why the land is criss-crossed with drainage ditches.
