Geocache Description:

A pleasant hike near Devil's Rest and a short off-trail bushwhack to a cache surrounded by old-growth giant hemlocks that somehow escaped the loggers.

I first spotted this unlikely treasure about 20 years ago during a winter run on the snow-covered trails. I was running out of daylight so took a shortcut off-trail and to my considerable surprise stumbled onto it. Up to about 1980, all these roads were open and un-gated which explains why so many “objets d’art” are to be found in these woods. This Wave Runner corpse, probably stolen, stripped then dumped is just one more of the great places to hide a cache and allow us the entertainment of wondering just how this all came about.

There are many ways to get to this location but the easiest is to start at the snow gate on Larch Mt. Rd., MP 10.1 and hike 2.1 miles taking a right at the first intersection, Multnomah Basin Road. Take a left in about 600 feet onto what was once a steam-era RR grade. Hike along the grade 3/10 mile or until your GPS tells you that the cache is 90 degees to your right and head on in.

You are looking for a 20mm plastic ammo container.
