When you commute by bike into the city, you seek alternate routes that bypass the heavily traveled arteries like Queens Blvd. I found this pedestrian overpass and now it is a staple of my commute from home to midtown (across the 59th Street Bridge of course). I always enjoyed the view. I ascend the hill traveling from Woodhaven Blvd and I am rewarded on a clear day with an expansive view of the city. On the other side of the bridge, there is a park with basketball courts where on any given day locals are having a lively game.
This cache is an easy P & G or B & G (bike and grab). GZ has an obstructed view...walk a few feet towards the entrance to the pedestrian overpass and you will see the skyline.
If you are curious about my commute, after crossing the pedestrian overpass, I continue on 84th Street (which becomes Calamus). I make a R on 69th, L on 50th, R on 61st, L on Queens Blvd, R on 60th, L on Woodside, L on 56, R on Skillman and Skillman has a bike path - follow it to the bridge (you'll have to make a few obvious turns, but you'll have a bike path all the way from Skillman until you exit the bridge in Manhattan). Leave some comments if you know better ways to get into Manhattan that takes quiet side streets.
