Pukapuka is a peak in the Hunua Ranges standing some 470m above sea level. To reach the summit it is advised that you take the Pukapuka track. The Pukapuka track starts from the top of the Mangatangi Hill Road, and meanders through regenerating bush, grasslands and former farmland. The track follows rugged terrain before reaching Pukapuka Summit (470m). The track then continues along an undulating ridge to Lilburne Road. The track is some 6.4km in length and is estimated to take 4 hours to complete.
Start at either of the parking coordinates provided.
1) Park at the Moumoukai Rd carpark. Make your way along Lilburne Rd until you reach the Northern Pukapuka track trailhead. Enjoy a hike along this tramping track until you reach the summit.
2) Park at Manatangi Dam. Make your way along A.R.A. Drive until you reach the Southern Pukapuka tack trailhead. Enjoy a hike along this tramping track until you reach the summit.
Once at the summit you can peak some views of the Manatangi Dam below. See you on the trails!
