This easy "1:1" cache was established during the innagural Somerset LakeFest June 14, 2014, sponsored by the Somerset County Conservancy and Somerset Lake Action Committee. This day long festival included: Bicycle Rides, Birding Hikes, Paddle Trips, Fishing Demonstrations, Bird Calling, Kids Fun Tent, Face Painter, Geocaching Basics Tent, Concrete Canoe Team, Rocky Mountain Kayak Outfitters, Raffel and more.
The festival purposes were: To help repair the Lake Somerset Dam, and To support acquisition of the property into the FIRST Somerset County Park.

The cache was used as a sample geocaching endeavor for potentially new geocachers who visited the Geocaching Basics Tent, as well as an easy "cache claim" for more advanced geocachers during the event. Both will hopefully will be drawn to the area in the future because of geocaching, as well as related publicity.
