BD-4 The Kettle (aka killer nettles) Traditional Cache

This is the 4th cache in a circular walk around the Northern section of Blair Drummond estate.

It is mainly on landrover/farm tracks with a firm surface but there is a short section of rough ground around the field after BD6.

It should take you about 2 hours and leads through a variety of different landscapes with excellent views especially of Doune Castle and the river.

At GZ is the remains of a building with a metal cauldron and chimney, presumably for heating water for some unknown purpose. NOTE the cache title and the attributes, the nettles here are legendary....you have been warned!!!!!!

There is a boathouse nearby that has become stranded on dry land as the reservoir has since been drained.

The burn you can see running out of the reservoir is the same one from BD-2

Its not a good idea to wear shorts here as there are some lethal nettles all around on approach from the track. The terrain rating reflects the nettles in Summer.
