Geocache Description:

The Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula) is a common black bird often seen walking around lawns.  They prefer to nest in evergreens, and the row of evergreens just across the road from the restaurant has Common Grackles nesting in them.  When I was scouting out the cache location, a grackle dropped a fecal sac into the river, which helped me come up with part of the cache name.  Young birds produce fecal sacs which the parents carry away from the nest.  This keeps the nest and area underneath it cleaner, and keeps from attracting predators.  I was orginally going to call this the Bridge over the River Cut, as a play on the Bridge over the River Kwai, but someone suggested I make bird related caches, so I combined the names.  The Cut River flows from Higgins Lake to Houghton Lake.

The cache only contains a log.  The area could be busy on summer weelends.  Parking is available at the nearby restaurant.
