Inside Out Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Moore9KSUcats: Well, since this one got stolen earlier this spring, we feel it is time to archive this cache. The new subdivision is becoming developed, and our favorite parking spot and trail access will be through someone's yard.. (sigh) We've really enjoyed all the logs and fun hiking there, and may find a new spot within the glen for a cache in the future.

Geocache Description:

A short and mostly easy hike on Georgetown's newest greenbelt hiking trail leads to Cache. The name "inside out" comes from things you'll see along the trail that really belong inside a cavern. Any geologist geocachers, please check it out and explain it for the rest of us. (Please don't touch the formations, some of them appear to be live).

The trailhead is in a new neighborhood that won't be on any maps yet. As you drive down Booty's Crossing, you'll see the subdivision sign "The Falls of San Gabriel". Turn in on Hardwood Groves Blvd, turn right on Springwood Lane. The trailhead is just past the bridge on the left. Park along the road. (but park carefully - this is the area where I'm teaching 15 year old CoolCat to drive since there are no houses yet!) The trail is well marked and covered with mulch. You will cross the stream several times, but there are stone walkways to help you cross the stream, and even steel steps to descend to the falls. A beautiful and really quiet place to get in touch with nature……until….the last 100 feet of the hunt is off trail. Some good shoes and a hiking stick will serve you well here. We saw some isolated poison ivy (where don't you in this area!) so watch where you put your feet. The cache is in a 50 cal ammo box. The kids discovered this trail, so they picked out the contents and the hiding place.
