Most people are used to seeing Cat Mountain as they drive by on Ajo Road (Highway 86). From this cache site, you'll get to see a whole new side of Cat Mountain.
This is the reincarnation of the original Cat Mountain geocache, archived due to a trail closure. The cache and it's contents are essentially identical to what it was when the cache was removed from the original site. The cache is located in a rock outcropping just above a wash just off of the main trail.
To get to the trailhead, take Kinney Road northwest from Ajo to Sarasota Blvd (or southeast past the Tucson Mountain Estates if coming from Gates Pass). Take Sarasota NE to its end and follow the dirt road SE to the obvious trailhead at it's end.
Watch out for the indiginous mountainbiker, a normally friendly creature who can frequently be seen in this area. Also, there may be curious or even dangerous wildlife in the area - it is the desert, afterall and snakes and gila monsters can be found in the area along with deer, lizards & small rodents among other critters. Also, don't forget to bring some water!
