Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash near the pond in West Dean.

West Dean is a great place for starting a walk or mountain biking outing. With the Friston Forest surrounding the Hamlet you can walk in almost any direction for some peace and quiet.  There are single track mountain bike rides created by bikers in many areas of the forest.  These are now regarded as some of the very best in the South East of England and are definetely worth a go. I say "beware the steep ones" just north of the A259 around the 'Friston Forest book exchange'(GC19G6X) when it is wet underfoot. More information can be got from http://www.sxmtbstmaps.co.uk

Horse riding is allowed in the forest on the public bridleways but an annual permit must be obtained from the Forestry commission to use it properly.

This cache is postioned beside the road and is another quick one adding to the series that I am building in the Cuckmere Valley. It is a 35mm film container with camo
