Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Abbotts Ann Amble. This is a lovely walk in the Hampshire countryside, a little under 4 miles with 17 caches placed for you to find.

They should all be relatively easy and are a mixture of micro and small in size and not a nano amongst them!

The route starts and ends in the lovely village of Abbots Ann, where there is usually enough street parking most days. Please park responsibly and make sure you don't block any driveways. Please also don't park in the pub car park as space is limited there and is for patrons only.

You can of course enjoy refreshment in the pub after 17 finds or drown your sorrows if there are too many DNFs.

There are a couple of extra caches on the way round placed by another cacher, but suggest you read the log entries for both as other cachers have posted alternative co-ordinates to help you.

You should see plenty of wildlife on your walk and on a sunny day it is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours.

The route is suitable for bikes and buggies, but wheelchair users should know that the caches between number 5 and number 14 are not accessible. There is, however, a path across the field that you can use from near number 5 that takes you to number 14, so you can at least do part of the route.

In spring and summer you will have to contend with the usual growth of the cacher's "best friend", stinging nettles, so be warned. The paths are pretty well maintained, but in winter you may encounter mud, so good walking shoes or boots are recommended.

Please take notice of any "Private" signs and do not wander into any of the fields.

We have named the series after breeds of chickens. There are many series named after birds, dogs, colours, villages etc. but as far as we are aware none for chickens. As we have 4 in our back garden, we thought, "Well, why not?"

We do enjoy reading your logs, so if you could avoid the simple "TFTC" that would be great. We love hearing about the adventures you have when finding our caches.

Off you go, enjoy yourself, follow the Countryside Code and find our new caches.
