Geocache Description:

Celebrating Lincoln
Photo in a Flash

We'll be celebrating Lincoln in many ways, you'll have to show up to see the how's and why's. Meet at the coordinates at 8am where we will take a quick group photo and be on our way to cache the day away.

Earlier this year, we should have celebrated President Lincoln's 205th birthday. This massive 2500 pound, 10ft sculpture of Abraham Lincoln in a chair with his son Tad at his left knee is located on the south plaza of City Hall. Abe is holding a book on his lap and gazing lovingly at his son who holds a hat brim in his left hand. The statue was commissioned & donated by Kansas Citian Orville W Anderson, an insurance salesman, photographer and fan of Honest Abe, to the citizens of Kansas City. The inscription says, "With Malice toward none With charity for all That government of the people By the people, for the people Shall not perish from earth."
