Gleich einem geheimnissvollen irdischen Garten Eden hinter einer uneinnehmbaren Mauer ruhte es unbetreten über 20 Jahre, das Areal zwischen Kokerei und der Saar.
Die Kokerei war einer der schwersten Arbeitsplätze der Völklinger Hütte, an dem Hitze, Staub und Feuer regierten.
Aus der Hölle ist "Das Paradies" geworden.

Tel un jardin d'éden terreste empli de mystère et protégé par un mur imprenable, le terrain situé entre la cokerie et la sarre a eposé pendant plus de vingt ans sans avoir été foulé par les pas de l'homme.
Le cokerie était auparavant l'un des lieux de travail les plus difficiles où régnaient chaleur, poussière et feu.
L'enfer s'est transformé en paradis.

protected behind an impregnable wall, the area between the coking plant and the Saar remained unentered, virgin territory for over 20 years and became a mysterious earhtly Garden of Eden. The coking plant was one of the heaviest of all the workplaces at the Völklingen ironworks and was dominated by heat, dust and fire.
From the "hell" a paradise has come into being.

Das Paradies weitet sich:
Der Platz an Batterie 7 öffnet den Blick auf die haushohen Koksöfen und die gigantische Hochofengruppe. Natur und Industrie gehen eine spannende Symbiose ein.
Wo früher tagein tagaus dicke Rauchschwaden die Sonne verdunkelt haben, wo die Feuer der Koksöfen in der Nacht den Himmel in rotes Licht tauchten, bietet sich heute ein faszinierendes Panorama. Bänke laden ein, die Ruhe des Ortes zu genießen.

the square at battery 7 opens the view onto the towering coke oven and the gigantic blast furnace group. Nature and industry enter into a fascinating symbiosis.
Where in the past wads of thick smoke darkened the sun day in day out, where the fire of the coke oven bethed the horizon in red light today is a fascinating panorama. Benches invite you to enjoy the tranquility of the place.

Ein verwunschener Winkel des Paradieses:
Im Kamin, den man durch eine kleine Pforte betritt, herrscht feierliche Stille.
Durch diesen steinernen Schacht wurden ungezählte Kubikmeter schwarzen Rauchs in den Himmel über Völklingen geblasen.
Oft tagelang war der Himmel vom Qualm der Öfen verdunkelt, die Sonne nur eine fahle Scheibe im dunstigen Grau.
Heute blickt man durch den Kamin in die Weite des saarländischen Himmels.

Dans la cheminée dans laquelle on pénètre par une petite porte, règne un silence solennel.
"C'est par cette chemimée de pierres qu'un nombre inimaginable de mètres cubes de fumée noire ont été rejetés dans le ciel de Völklingen."
"Il n'était pas rare que le ciel soit assombri par les fumées des hauts-fourneaux pendant des jours entiers, le soleilrèduit à un disque pâle tout là-haut dans le ciel."
Aujourd'hui, on regarde par la cheminée dans l'étendue du ciel sarrois.

An enchanted angle of paradise:

Through this stone shaft innumerable cubic metres of black smoke were blasted into the skies over Volkingen.
Often the sky was darkened the day long by the furnace smoke, the sun was just a sallow disc through the hazy grey.
Today one peers through to the breadth of the sky.

Hektische Betriebsamkeit in allen Bereichen, jeder noch so kleine Winkel Nutzfläche für das pulsierende Eisenwerk.
Heute:
Das Grün der Natur hat sich ausgebreitet und weite Bereiche zurückgeholt.
Die Natur ist stark.
Stärker als Beton und Stahl.
