Having lived on Long Island my entire life, I have driven past this area countless times over the years. Ironically though, I never had a reason to stop at this spot until I came across an archived cache that had been hidden here. I finally decided to stop and look for it, only to realize it had been muggled again. The original CO does not appear to be active anymore, so I cleaned up what was left and decided to look for a new spot to mark this area that Long Islanders know so well.
This should not be a difficult find and you should be out of sight of the Visitor Center workers on this side of the Southern State and the municipal workers on the other side of the parkway. So if you are coming back from a trip off the Island, or looking for information on things to do on the Island, or just looking for a new smiley, feel free to stop here and take a break.
