Venetikos Traditional Cache

The cache is placed at the area of the trackless riparian forests in the limits of the extended National Park of Northern Pindos. There the brown bear chases trout, and otter and the black stork one of the rare species of winged fauna threatened with extinction, can found shelter.

Cache took its name from "Venetikos" river in Macedonia Grevena.

It is one of the largest tributaries of Aliakmona. Venetikos stems from Smolikas and flows east. Just south of Grevena flows through vertical and conglomerate rocks forming the famous Gates of Venice. Then flows east and contributes to Aliakmona near the village Agapi. At longer time the waters have intense turquoise color, except during periods of heavy rainfall when its waters are filled mud from adjacent streams. The river offers activities such as rafting and kayaking.
