Geocache Description:

This is a multi-cache located in Sampson State Park. There is a park fee of $6.00 from late May through Sept. The cache is approved by the park manager.

The cache is 50 cal ammo can placed off an unmarked but visually apparent trail. All points except for the final waypoint are easy to get to by bike, car or a long walk. The final waypoint does require a walk in the woods.

Because of the distance someone might travel to get to this cache, we listed each Waypoint in the Clues. Only look if you don't want the challenge of the puzzle or believe that one of us made a mistake. If you chose not to do the puzzle, each waypoint provides information about the history of the park. If you are spending the day there, you might enjoy visiting each of these areas.

1. Starting Waypoint

At the starting Waypoint, find a 4 digit number you would use to send a letter to the park.

Subtract 10 from the starting latitude to get the latitude for Waypoint 2.

Subtract 5613 from the 4 digit number you found. Add the result to the starting longitude to get the longitude for Waypoint 2.

WRITE YOUR NEW WAYPOINTS HERE:

2. At Waypoint 2.

How many recruits were at Sampson? You will find a 6 digit number. Take the last two digits of this six digit number and add 30 to it. Subtract the result from your current latitude to get the latitude for Waypoint 3.

Add 368 to the current longitude to get the longitude for Waypoint 3.

WRITE YOUR NEW WAYPOINTS HERE:

3. At Waypoint 3

You should now be at the Memorial. Count the number of letters engraved on the center stone around the insignia. Fill in the first two blanks with these numbers _ _ 9.

You now have a 3 digit number. Subtract this 3 digit number from your current latitude to get the latitude for Waypoint 4.

Divide the number of World War II Navy vets by 20. Add 90 to your answer. Add this number to the current longitude to get the longitude for Waypoint 4.

WRITE YOUR NEW WAYPOINTS HERE:

4. Waypoint 4

Multiply the length of Seneca Lake by 2. Add 4 to the result. Subtract this number from your current latitude to get the latitude for Waypoint 5.

Subtract 467 from the water depth in feet of Seneca Lake near Lodi. Subtract this number from the current longitude to get the longitude for Waypoint 5.

WRITE THE FINAL WAYPOINT HERE:

5. Proceed to the cache.
