Historical Site
Former site of The Mahogany Boat Ramp and was once part of the Weis-Fricker Mahogany Company saw mill. Mahogany logs harvested from Central America were brought to Pensacola on board ships and off loaded at the Port. They were gathered into "rafts" and towed to the Weis-Fricker Mahogany mill site. The logs were processed at the mill site for later use in furniture, boats and planes. The mill dried an average of 400,000 board feet a month. Presently the property contains structures that were integral to the operation of the mill site. These structures include large raised concrete foundations once used to support large engines used to pull mahogany logs from the Bayou for processing.
