The Ballad of Tangled Ted Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

dwgogo: Someone found one of the stages of this cache (probably the last one) and turned it into the police dept who contacted the USFS who said they don't want geocaches on "their" land. Since this one has been up for just about 7 years, I think it's time to archive it. Thank you to everyone who made the hunt for Tangled Ted! I had a great time making this one up, and enjoyed all the logs.

Best wishes to all!

Geocache Description:

If ya like a tall-tale, come help search for Tangled Ted - “Clumb Chimney Rock a lot,” he said. This is a multi-cache comprised of several micro-caches with the last one being a “regular” cache. Each micro-cache has a part of the story of “Tangled Ted” and coordinates to the next cache. The first micro is an Altoids tin that has been painted and marked with TT, the next two micros are small, red hide-a-key rocks which have some other small red rocks piled around them. Check the encrypted hint if you would like more info concerning #3' - it has disappeared the most over the years, so I put it in what I hope is a very inconspicuous spot! The last cache has an assortment of Tangled Ted-themed items and a log book. There are 4 stops total on this hunt. Please take something and don’t leave anything as I will keep it stocked with themed items.

The parking lot for the trail head is a fee-lot. You need to have a Red Rock Pass which you can purchase at the Chamber of Commerce, one of the Visitor Centers or the Circle K in West Sedona.

This one is OK for older children and sure-footed animals - may be too steep at the end for very small children, though they could do the first part of it easily. Watch out for snakes and other critters during hot weather! I have noticed that the perfect cache-disguise is also an excellent place for varmints! Have fun, enjoy the views, don’t forget your camera & drinking water, and good luck findin' that ol' varmint, Tangled Ted!!
