Recently the 2nd Stephenville Beavers and Cubs took part in the annual Scoutree planting. This year it was in a clear-cut piece of land to the west of the old dump past area 13 in Stephenville. My son and I were lucky enough to be a part of Beavers and therefore the planting and, since the area was so nice, we decided to give others a reason to visit and have a look at the good work the Scout organization does with the tree planting.
The cache is relatively easy to get to but it is certainly not a park and grab. If the gate is open (see listed waypoints), then you can drive most of the way. If not, there is a 3 km hike (or quad ride) to the entrance to the trail (see listed waypoints). You can get in on the trail next to the gate but I would be careful with anything other than a small, high truck or jeep. Once at the trail, there is another 10 minute walk into the actual planting site.
The cache is located a good distance from the main trail across the area we planted, so please be careful not to crush any of the small trees we planted - they are still rather fragile.
The cache itself is a small lock and lock container covered in black duct tape. It is full of the regular log, pencil, and trinkets, including a 2nd Stephenville Patch for a first to find. It is hidden but should not be too hard to find. Good luck, geocachers, and happy hunting!
Congratulations to Leaffan22 for yet another FTF! Hope he liked the patch!
