[RO] Piatra Secuiului (1129m) și Colții Trascăului (1113m) formează un masiv calcaros brăzdat de numeroase creste prelungi care coboară spre vale, formând prin eroziune turnuri și lapiezuri. Între cele două vârfuri se cască Șanțul Mare, un jgheab uriaș umplut cu grohotiș, jgheab care este cea mai scurtă cale de acces spre creastă. Masivul impresionează prin versantul abrupt, calcaros, care domină satele Rimetea și Colțești prin diferența de nivel de aproximativ 600m.
Din creastă avem o panoramă splendidă asupra Văii Arieșului și Văii Mureșului. De sus se vede tot satul Rimetea, cu casele lui albe tipice zonei, cu străduțele înguste și curate, cu cimitirul vechi și biserica unitariană din 1700, străduța cu cele șapte case identice construite de un nobil bogat pentru cei șapte fii ai săi.
Acces:
Puteți parca în centrul satului Rimetea (N46 27.149 E23 34.078), în apropierea Muzeului Etnografic care, dacă aveți timp, merită vizitat. Din centru (N46 27.166 E23 34.086) pornește spre est traseul marcat cu cruce albastră care ne va duce pe creastă prin Șanțul Mare. Aproape de marginea satului trecem pe lângă o moara de apă. După 2km și o diferență de nivel de circa 600m de la punctul de plecare ajungem în șaua (N46 26.865 E23 35.403) care desparte cele doua vârfuri: Piatra Secuiului și Colții Trascăului. Pe porțiunea aceasta de traseu putem căuta cutia GC542YX și putem să ne împrospătăm rezervele de apă de la un izvor (N46 26.940 E23 35.164).
Din șa pornim spre nord-est tot pe cruce albastră. După 150m ajungem la o cruce din piatră (N46 26.927 E23 35.436) și la un indicator turistic. Aici traseul se bifurcă, fiind marcat cu bandă roșie. Noi mergem pe ramura spre nord și dupa 350m ajungem la o nouă intersecție de trasee (N46 27.091 E23 35.320). Continuăm spre nord-vest pe un traseu nemarcat care după circa 1.1km ajunge pe Vârful Colții Trascăului (N46 27.300 E23 35.184). Cutia este ascunsă cu vreo 80m înainte de vârf sub o piatră de lângă un fragment de stâncă.
Pentru coborâre putem să alegem un alt traseu. Coborâm până la intersecția de trasee (N46 27.091 E23 35.320) și de aici mergem spre nord-est pe traseul marcat cu bandă roșie care ajunge după 2.6km la drumul asfaltat, în nordul satului Rimetea (N46 27.516 E23 34.280).
[En] The Piatra Secuiului (1129m) and the Colții Trascăului (1113m) from a calcareous massif streaked by numerous prolonged ridges extended down the valley, forming towers and ditches through erosion. Between the two peeks the Grand Ditch is found , a giant gutter filled with numerous detritus, a gutter that is the shortest path towards the ridge. The massif impresses through its abrupt slope dominating the Rimetea and Colțești villages having a level difference of about 600m.
From the ridge we have a splendid panoramic view over the Arieșului Valley and Mureșului Valley. From above one can see the whole Rimetea Village, with its typical white houses , narrow and clean streets, the old cemetery and the Unitarian Church built in 1700, the street with seven identical houses built by a noble for his seven sons.
Access:
You can park in the centre of Rimtea Village (N46 27.149 E23 34.078), near the Ethnographic Museum which, if you have the time, is worth visiting. From the centre (N46 27.166 E23 34.086) a blue cross marked trail starts and goes towards east which will lead us to the ridge through the Grand Ditch. Near the outskirts of the village we go past a water mill. After 2km and a level difference of about 600m from the starting point we in the saddle (N46 26.865 E23 35.403) which splits towards the two peeks: Piatra Secuiului and Colții Trascăului. On this part of the trail we can search for the GC542YX cache and can resupply with water from a spring (N46 26.940 E23 35.164).
From the saddle we go towards north-east, still on the blue cross. After 150m we find a cross made out of stone (N46 26.927 E23 35.436) and a touristic indicator. Here the trail splits, being marked with red stripe. We go on the northern branch and after 350m we find a new trail cross (N46 27.091 E23 35.320). We go on towards north-west on an unmarked trail which after around 1.1km we get to the Colții Trascăului Peek (N46 27.300 E23 35.184). The cache is hidden with around 80m before the peek under a large rock near a cliff fragment.
For the descend we can go on a different trail. We go down until the trail cross (N46 27.091 E23 35.320) and from here we go towards north-east on a red stripe marked trail which gets to the asphalt after 2.6km, in the north of the Rimetea Village (N46 27.516 E23 34.280).
