The plant with a hundred uses, smooth sumac (Rhus glabra). The fruit (drupes) can be dried and ground into a spice or soaked to make a sumac-ade; various parts can be processed to produce a smokeless candle wax; the leaves, fruit, and bark can be used to obtain various dye colors; the stems were used in pipemaking, and historically it was a medicinal plant.
