Please do NOT attempt these caches when heavy rains, or flooding, are in the forecast.
You may look at the River des Peres at certain times of the year, and scoff, "River?" "Really?!"
But what you may not realize is this: On Sept. 14, 2008, the remnants of Hurricane Ike attacked St. Louis and caused rain and massive flooding from the River des Peres, causing over 100 University City homes to be damaged, and 2 lives to be lost. 26 homes that had directly abutted the River des Pere's banks were bought out. And by April 2014, this portion of Wilson Avenue was transformed into green space, since it was determined that no one should ever live here again. The caches are located on Wilson Ave., between Shaftesbury Ave. and Midland Ave.
There is a very interesting art installation located at ground zero (GZ) through Sept. And if you walk the area, you can see portions of some house foundations still there. Really sad stuff. I've done lots of research online, and here are a few things to read/watch about what happened that day:

Interactive Art/Sculpture currently at GZ- it will be located there until Sept. 13th, 2014. You can buy birdseed from a machine located there, and put it into each sculpture's hand. Eventually, the birds who live nearby will be trained to naturally land upon the sculptures' hands without food, since they are sometimes being rewarded for doing so:
