The Walker Army Airfield was constructed in 1942 as a satellite airfield for Smoky Hill Army Airfield at Salina. In 1943 it became a training station for B-29s. The base was active through 1946.
Not too much is left to see other than a couple hangers, water tower, firing range hill, and the bottom structures of multiple buildings that were on the base. The land is privately owned and you can not walk or drive around inside of the fence. If you have time, drive around the outside of the base.
The coordinates are at the original entry to the base.
