Matkov Skàf is a hidden jewel of nature high in the narrow valley of Matkov Kot. Here a 40m high waterfall meets the snow from last winters avalances and carves a deep hole into the ice. The depth varies with snow pack, 2014 it was about 17m deep and 10m wide. In high summer and autumn the snow usually vanishes and the trip is only worthwhile if you continue to Mrzla Gora.
Park your car at the suggested coordinates and follow the logging road into the valley. When you reach the broad and usually dry riverbed turn right on the marked path to Skàf (marked with red/white circles). The path stays on the western side of the valley and leads to the cache in about 1 hour. The last part of the path usually leads over steep snow fields - good shoes and hiking poles are necessary, crampons offer some additional safety.
The cache is hidden below the overhanging wall, take the spoiler photo with you as the satellite reception is horrible in this wild and rocky corner.
Time needed: 3-3.5h, difference in height: 500m

The trip to Mrzla Gora is a demanding mountain climb of rock up to UIAA II and steep snow fields long into the year
