Katherine Hepburn - (May 12, 1907 – June 29, 2003) was an American actress of film, stage and television. Known for her headstrong independence and spirited personality, Hepburn was a leading lady in Hollywood for more than 60 years. Born May 12, 1907 in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of a doctor and a suffragette.
During her Hollywood times, she acted in over 50 movies and won 4 Academy Awards.
She had a home in the on the shore of Long Island Sound in the Fenwick neighborhood of Old Saybrook where she passed away on June 29,2003. She was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. It is said that she would swim in LIS year round and she barely survived when her home was ruined by the hurrican of 1938. She was also an avid golfer and tennis player.
