A 2014 addition by our neighbors and friends at Manitowish Waters, this 9 mile connector trail is really a crown jewel of bike trails. Built largely in Boulder Junction township, it connects our two communities via a lovely wooded paved trail that winds along County Highway K. It ends at North Lakeland Elementary School at the intersection of County Highway P. From there, the Manitowish Waters trail system takes over, and one can continue west on this lovely manicured trail for several more miles. There is a possibility of a northern segment in the future along CTH P, and an eventual Presque Isle link! Viva the bike trail network!
Unique features of this trail include two specialized boardwalks that cross lowland swamps, and a lovely arched bridge across Rice Creek.
Thanks to the Manitowish Bike Trail Committee and their donors for approaching Boulder Junction with the idea, and for the funding and construction. Thanks also to the WI DNR for continued support.
