Each of the caches in the Alchemist Series are now stand alone caches. No info is required to attempt any of the caches in the series.
The Alchemist Series contains a total of fifteen caches: eight in Tier One, four in Tier Two, two in Tier Three, and one in Tier Four. I originally set the series up so that the eight caches in Tier One were all traditional, but in order to find any of the caches in the three higher tiers you had to first find two caches in a lower tier. Since the series has not been getting much traffic I decided to make the higher series caches all traditional too. (The graphic above shows how the series fits together.) Each cache -- except for Gold -- contains a three digit number written on the inside of the front cover of the logbook; that number will be needed to calculate either the latitude or longitude of a higher tier cache.
Each cache -- except for Gold and Brass and Copper -- contains a three digit number written on the inside of the front cover of the logbook; that number will be needed to calculate the coordinates of Gold. Please do not share this information with other cachers; let them complete the series on their own. This series will take you on a criss-cross journey through western North Carolina. This is not a race!
You are looking for a medium-sized Lock&Lock container hidden just off a greenway near Biltmore Park. [Biltmore Park lies within what was once called Limestone Township. Limestone's chemical composition is usually CaCO3 -- which is calcium carbonate. There you have it.] There are a few different ways to approach the cache; some are easier than others. Though available 24/7 I recommend attempts be made during daylight hours. Please replace the cache so that it is not visible from any angle. It is full of the usual inexpensive trade items; please trade even or up. Enjoy The Alchemist Series!
The original Carbon cache was muggled and the spot was not ideal for a replacement, so I moved it. It was enough of a move to warrant a new listing. And then the second spot fell victim to progress, so I moved it again. The inspiration for this series came from MarcB -- a cacher in the United Kingdom who graciously allowed me to steal the idea. Check out any of the caches in his Alchemy Quest series.
