This stands for Walking Home From The Car Repair Place. I put up some of these when I had to, yes, walk home from the car repair place after my car needed a little work. This cache is different from the first so if you got the first one, this is ready for another smilie for you. Have fun with this p&g.
This story is true - if you have a weak stomach or don't like to read sad stories, just go to the cache and sign the log. I don't take responsibility for any tears.
In June of 2013 I got 4 days off to go to Mountain Home, ID for a 4 day caching trip. I leave at midnight so I could get down there early and grab a cache or two along the way. And it was good-I night cached in Yakima and the Tri Cities, had a bite to eat in Pendleton, OR and got to Boise about 2:00pm. I had a bunch of caches found already and could see my destination over the about 30 miles to Mountain Home.
I am driving down the highway to Mountain Home at 80 MPH... no rain in sight...the weather was in the mid 80's...and the radio was playing loud... but not loud enough to drown out the sound of CLUNK-CLUNK that came from the engine. All of sudden I'm coasting down the highway and luckily get over to the shoulder. What's wrong I ask myself? Got gas, oil, fluids look good. Now understand, I know nothing about any kind of engine-that's why God made car mechanics. But I still look under the hood so people passing by think I have everything under control. Wait about 20 minutes and the engine starts but makes the most awful sound. Now What? I ask myself.
Understand, I don't carry a cell phone. I'm sure the temperature has risen to 105 degrees and I''m going to die in the desert. Well, I remember a weigh station a couple of miles back so I start the long trudge back to the station. There my luck seems to turn around because it is open and there is a phone and phone book waiting for me. After the (I think it was more like 8 miles) trudge back to the car, the tow truck gets me back into Boise...where my luck turns around again whe i hear that I have blown the engine.
The cost to fix would be more than the car is worth. I give the car to the tow driver in lieu of the tow cost. I find out just how much crap I have in my car, So I take the next couple of days getting all that crap on it's way home and fly back in air-conditioned comfort.
True story!
I want everyone to find my caches so please log your finds and DNF's so I can keep track of it. I drive by here a couple of times a week...in my new car.
Please understand, you must sign the log to get a find. If you don't, your log will be deleted. No exceptions. There have just been too many finds with no pen available and/or logged a long time ago. Thanks.
