Geocache Description:

Arboretum Information:

The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, a regional center for conservation, recreation, and education in the Jacksonville area, is host to over 120 acres of ecological wonders. The Arboretum & Gardens showcases a huge diversity of wildlife, plant life, and landscapes common to the Florida area. The trails are open to the public daily from 8 AM – 5 PM (closed Christmas). No entry fee is required to access the facility though a donation of $2 per visitor is requested. What makes this location unique in its natural setting is the uncommonly close proximity of its many species varieties and landscapes. All of the trails are kid-friendly, but remain aware of your surroundings at all times. Many plants are showcased along the trail, including poisonous plants like sumac and ivy. Dogs are also welcome, just make sure to keep them on a leash and pick up after them. Please note that there are no dogs allowed on the Rosemary Scrub Vista connector trail, a very short section of trail on the interior of the Rosemary Ridge Trail.

Cache Information:

All geocaches hidden in the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens are located right off the designated trails. Please keep your feet firmly on the path when hunting for the cache. You will be seeking a micro container hidden along the Lake Loop, just before the connection to the Live Oak Trail. A great spot to look out over Lake Ray and enjoy the natural beauty of Florida. If you are lucky, you might even spot the alligator that has recently taken up residence in the waters below. This portion of trail and the cache are both wheelchair accessible. In fact, it would probably be easier to find the container from a sitting position. The lake loop trail is the main hub to connect to every other trail in the park, so make sure to watch for muggles when retrieving and replacing.

Good Luck & Happy Hunting!
