Thanks!This is a pleasant hike/ride thru the rather newly-created McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Officially designated trailheads are at the terminus of 128th or 124th streets in North Scottsdale (easily accessed from Shea or Via Linda), and by another trailhead at 104th Street off of McDowell Mountain Ranch Road. I used the trailhead at 124th, which results in a trek of about 2-and-a-half miles over mostly flat, smooth trail. In fact, when I walked this cache in, I was wearing open-toed sandals, and experienced no difficulties. The trail is also excellently suited for mountain biking - which would certainly cut down on the travel time.
Access would be much quicker (shorter) - and steeper, consequently - if approaching from one of the streets inside McDowell Mountain Ranch. However, some of this neighborhood is gate-guarded, so I can't guarantee that you'll find - or can even reach - an appropriate parking spot.
The Musicbox is a themed cache, situated within a full-sized water-proof container. Original contents include a couple of recorders, a few stickstruments, music flashcards, shakers, and other similarly-oriented items; feel free to bring along something of a musical nature to exchange - be it a small (it's gotta fit!) instrument or book, CD's, busts of famous musicians, a recording contract, Elvis' scarf - you name it... as long as it'll fit within the 'box'..
You can find the Musicbox south of the clearing at the Taliesin Overlook, just off the game trail that runs up the ridge.
