This geocache will take you to the general location of Hacienda Eknakàn. The hacienda was abandoned years ago and is now in ruins, however still maintains a certain photogenic beauty. In its glory, the hacienda catered to cattle as well as henequen. The hacienda ruins are quite interesting to explore.

See photo gallery for MAP. For those who want a little more adventure, Cenote Papakal is located just south of Eknakàn at the following coordinates: 20 44.203, -89 22.458. The dirt road to the cenote is rocky and appears to go to the middle of nowhere. It is best if you have a vehicle with good ground clearance. When you approach the coordinates to the cenote, you will see a small clearing to your left. The cenote is there. The cenote is accessed through a cave entrance. It is pitch black. Extremely dark. You will need a flashlight. Once you enter the cave, it slopes down at the back to the water where you will see large white columns, stalactites and stalagmites. Parts of the cenote is very deep and is used by scuba divers. If you plan to scuba, you must have a guide with you. Do not attempt this cenote unless you are a good swimmer.
Note: You can ask in the Village of Eknakán if someone would take you to the cenote (you will need to tip them). Some locals will take you to the cenote and bring various mirrors with them which they will shine towards the sun and reflect through the small crack in the cave to give you more lighting. A truly exceptional experience.
