Geocache Description:

A small cache suitable for a few trade items and travelers located at the Whispering Pines area of Hartman Creek State Park.

While visiting this spot again this year I realized that there was no longer a cache present in this nice area. Hopefully this smaller container will not be so easily muggled. The kids love to come here and walk down the old stone staircase to swim and jump off the dock into the crystal clear waters of Marl Lake. We have also launched our kayaks from the Knight Lane landing and paddled around through the channels connecting Manomin, Pope and Marl Lakes. From that landing you can also gain access to the rest of the Waupaca Chain of Lakes area. There is also a small boat launch access area on the south side of Marl Lake. Whispering Pines also has a parking area where you can walk in to the cache as well as the picnic area - a small undeveloped walking trail circles the Pines area overlooking Marl and Pope Lakes. Drinking water, grills and restrooms are available near the picnic area. You will need a state park/trail pass to enter the area on foot or you can use the self registration station at the parking area. The nearby Pope Lake State Natural Area has hiking trails that connect with the trails from HCSP. Whispering Pines is a Day Use area with hours from 9am to 9pm daily. The area is also closed from late fall to spring so the cache will be disabled/removed during those times. Please check out the 'Activities and Recreation' section in the related link for more information.
