Geocache Description:

Ahoy thar Mateys! Did you know that once a REAL pirate set anchor in this here valley? He was nearly filled with fulla lead for his treachery, but the forgiving Padres at yonder Mission offered him a pardon in exchange for his crafty and useful talents. Go find the treasure that saved the Good Pirate's skin! Walk in his footsteps, but not off the plank, Matey!

Enjoy the quick hike past the Mission olive groves, across Alamo Pintado creek (not usually that wet), and into history. You will find a little known local gem, the first industrial complex in California built by the deserter pirate Joseph Chapman in the early 1800’s. Now you know why the mascot of SYV high school is a Pirate!
