Geocache Description:

Park at the gate.   Make the climb.
Learn the secret.

Skull and Bones was founded in 1832 after a dispute between Yale debating societies Linonia, Brothers in Unity, and the Calliopean Society over that season's Phi Beta Kappa awards. It was co-founded by William Huntington Russell and Alphonso Taft as "the Order of the Skull and Bones".

Skull and Bones selects new members among students every spring as part of Yale University's "Tap Day", and has done so since 1879. Since the society's inclusion of women in the early 1990s, Skull and Bones selects fifteen men and women of the junior class to join the society. Skull and Bones "taps" those that it views as campus leaders and other notable figures for its membership.

The "Tomb" is the official meeting hall of the Skull and Bones secret society. The building was built in three phases, the first wing in 1856, the second wing in 1903, and the Neo-Gothic towers were added to the rear garden in 1912. -- source, Wikipedia.

The cache is a medium sized lockable container, located on the side of a small hill overlooking Highway 16/385, south of Hill City. It's a short (about 150 feet), moderately sloped hike up to the cache from where you park. The last few feet are the steepest. Pay attention to the attributes! There is no need to cross the fence or go through the gate, the cache is NOT over there. Be sure to re-hide the container well after signing the log so it remains true to the namesake.

NOTE: This is a Letterbox Hybrid. It contains a themed stamp that stays with the cache. It is NOT a trade item, do not take it with you. You will need to bring your own stamp pad as there is not one in the cache. You do not need to have your own stamp to log this cache, just sign the log book.
