Geocache Description:

The "Charles Edward" Paddle Steamer overlooks the beautiful Lake King.

The "Charles Edward" was an iron hulled paddle steamer which was built in Scotland in 1864. She became the first regular steam ship between Melbourne and the Gippsland Lakes. She survived several wrecks on the Victoria coast, and was sold to New Zealand in 1876. Her end came on the night of 15th December 1908 when she ran aground at the end of Wanganui Breakwater. Within 3 days she became a total wreck.
