The first movie in the USA was dated to be in 1894. The first permanent theater was in California in 1902. The movie first played was "the great train robbery." By 1905 there were Nickelodeon theatres being built all over the place. They charged $0.05 for a viewing. In 1912, the Picture House in Cleveland, England opened with a fundraiser film to raise funds for the victims of the Titanic disaster. The State Theater in Washington, Iowa and is the oldest continuously operating movie theater in the United States. It showed its first films in 1897, and is still in operation as of April 1, 2014.
My first movie was E.T. by Steven Spielberg. Circa 1982 in West Dundee, IL. The cost was $1.00 for admission.
