The fire observation tower on top of High Knob, near Norton, was once used to spot forest fires. I understand that some lonely person used to live up there for weeks at a time. Since I was a child, I have been told that on a clear day you can see 5 states (VA-KY-TN-NC-WV). Maybe you and your family will be able to see that far from the top of the tower!
Original contents of the cache reflect its location. Included in the cache: Smokey Bear pins, key rings, patches and pencils. Also, a very cheap (99 cents) pair of kid's binoculars and a brass candlestick (minus the candle, of course!). Tried to stay with the theme of forest fires and fire prevention, but you don't have to. Swap anything you want!
This should be a very easy cache with few changes in elevation and only a little hike up the trail. Enjoy!
