I have brought you here to see a redundant Anglican Church near the village of Skidbrooke, Lincolnshire. It is designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It stands in an isolated position in the Lincolnshire marshlands, about 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Louth , and to the west of the A1031 road. Ir is built in the Gothic style and is reputed to be haunted. Each time I go ther as soon as I enter the church boundary, I feel the chill (even on a summers day) and the hair on the back of my neck rises. When you visit you will find the cache close to the entrance gate, but please go along the path and enter the church grounds and the building itself, you will not regret it.
The church dates from the early 13th century, with alterations and additions in the 14th and 15th centuries, in 1854 and 1871, and during the 20th century. It was declared redundant in November 1973.
Set in magnificent isolation in the Lincolnshire marshland, this early Medieval church has the feel of a Great Hall. The bare and unadorned interior has several wonderful arcades, giving the church its wonderful charm and character
