Sawyer Cemetery Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

atmospherium: It's time to let this one go. This was my 2nd hide in Sawyer Cemetery, and both saw a lot of visiters. I'm not active in caching anymore, so let's free up the spot for someone else. Thanks for stopping by!

Geocache Description:

This is an easy-to-find cache at the edge of a small cemetery.

Sawyer Cemetery is one of many small neglected pioneer burial grounds in Niagara County. Buried here are the settlers who cleared the forests and farmed the land throughout the 1800s. Many of them died young, a testimony to their hard lives. An early local settler wrote of those times: "Two sisters, young women, and some other very respectable ladies who were not afraid or ashamed to rough it in the woods for the sake of being independent, and several young unmarried men, helped to make up an assortment. We were all brothers and sisters and friends."
