I've long thought that this area needed more geocaches and this is at least a start. It is a beautiful area and steeped in history.
You have probably heard of Sherman's March to the Sea through Georgia during the Civil War but have you heard of his cousin's castle in Montana? B R Sherman was a local business man who made a fortune during the early Montana gold rush days, made his own march through Montana, and built a castle here. He was a cousin of the Civil War era General W T Sherman.
Familiarly known as "The Castle", this stone mansion was built by B R Sherman, stockman and mine owner in 1892. The grey stone structure has long been a landmark on its hilltop overlooking the town of White Sulphur Springs. The Castle was donated in 1960 to the Meagher County Historical Association and is now a museum open to the public. The museum is open daily for tours from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 10:00 am to 5:00. At the time this cache was placed the tour cost $5.00 for adults,, and $3.00 for Seniors and children under 12. The cache is outside, near the street, and is available all year 24 hours per day. There is no charge if you don't take the tour but the tour is well worth it!
The cache is placed with permission, thanks Dawn! Congratulations to mortards for the FTF!
