This district was approved on August 16, 1920. The school was known as Central School, as it was located right in the center of the township. When the school was closed, students were transported to Verdi. This school building and the two acre site were purchased by the township on February 20, 1956 for $800. The schoolhouse was not moved from its original location but turned into the Fountain Prairie Township Hall. Township board meetings, all elections, and meeting of Prairie-Grangers 4-H Club were held in the former schoolhouse. The township did eventually tear down the old school and they built a new building at the same location for their hall.
