Driving the road with its hundreds of bends, turns and serpentines from the North heading towards Paleochora with one person becoming sick, we always count distinct waypoints indicating how far we still have to go (e.g. good road until Voukolies, millions of bends between Kakopetros and Kandanos, then all the new bridges cutting off another couple of sharp curves).
The very last of these waypoints is this white chapel at the crossing to Azogires. It tells us two things:
- You can see the Libyan Sea for the first time!
- There are only a few bends left until you reach Paleochora! Yeah!
We love this little chapel and therefore decided to hide a cache nearby. Please be careful as this is a sacred place. Please do not disturb any religious activity.
Cache: You will find the small container under a rock between chapel and street, in front of you right from the tree standing next to the chapel's apse.
Please log in English – geocaching is international!
Local geocaching friends OMILOS will help with maintenance until our next stay in Crete. Thank you!
