Vermont has the smallest capital in the USA, but many of us think it is the most beautiful. This challenge will allow you to form your own opinion of the six New England capitals. You must have a find in all the other five capitals before you may log this as a find.
The New England Capitals are, in alphabetical order: (but you can do them in any order)
Augusta Maine
Boston MA
Concord NH
Hartford CT
Montpelier VT
Providence RI
When you log your six finds here, you must either post a Bookmark, or list the qualifying finds with GC code, name of cache, and date you found it. Past finds count.
Incomplete lists will be deleted if logged as a find; if you have a question about it, put it up as a note, and make it a find when it is complete. You may also send your list to the CO for approval if you prefer before logging.
Your finds should be within the city limits of the capital city, AND as close as possible to the place the legislature sits, i.e., the Capitol or State House. East Montpelier does not count as Montpelier. South Boston is not Boston. You do not have to find a cache at the Capitol. (However, this would be interesting to do if you can.) As a rule of thumb, try to have your cache within sight of the Capitol building. This may not always be possible.
You get bonus points if you remember Vermont calls its building a State House, not a Capitol. Most people don't get the distinction, but maybe you will after you complete the challenge!.
There are other Capital/Capitol Challenges throughout the country (and world). One of the toughest is GCV7NG State Capitol Quest, which requires you to log caches in all 50 states. Started in 2006, only one person has ever completed it to date, but we know others who may soon. Think of this as your gateway to Capital questing.
Enjoy the challenge!
