Dr Evan Pierce (1808-1895) was born in a small village just outside Denbigh and attended Denbigh Grammar School. He trained as a doctor at Edinburgh University and qualified in 1832. On his return to Denbigh that year he was faced with a cholera epidemic that had claimed 300 lives in one month. He joined other local doctors in caring for the sick and after hard work the epidemic was finally brought under control. In 1872 a number of his admirers undertook to commemorate his services to the community and this statue (Sicilian marble) was erected on a column of limestone, quarried from Denbigh.
Savage Vikings comes from an innocent comment made by our daughter (known on here as biggles2) whilst we were out caching in Derbyshire, close to Chatsworth Farm Shop. The clue for that cache (GC1VEW2) was SV and she asked "What does SV stand for, Savage Vikings?". We all found this so funny that the idea for a series was born. SV in fact stands for Sluice Valve and is part of the water main system.

This is a lovely spot when the sun is out and has recently been restored, making it a great spot for a geocache. You are looking for a nano placed just outside the garden as the garden is closed sometimes.
You will need to bring a pen and a pair of tweezers and please only put initials and date on the log (you'll see why when you find it!). Difficulty rating is entirely muggle-related.
Congratulation to 8Firm for the FTF
