Geocache Description:

This stunningly beautiful peninsual is the Taynish National Nature Reserve. One of the largest original oakwoods remaining in Britain, the reserve offers a bit of everything; peaceful loch shores, woodland, wildlife and views. The woodlands are interspersed with grassland, heath, saltmarsh and shoreline to give a fantastic variety of wildlife.

Pick up a leaflet and follow the Woodland Trail to the shore, passing Taynish Mill.  Watch quietly as you go for deer, otters and the threatened Marsh Fritillary butterfly.  Look closely at what is living on the trees.  This is the global hotspot for mosses, lichens and liverworts - ancient plants that require pristine conditions to thrive.

The last few metres to the cache is along an otter track over slippy and jaggedy rocks.
