Renamed, as we have been muggled twice! Please re-cover carefully.
Walking along the canal here is an antidote to city life. The canal bridges themselves are oddly lovely - this one in particular is an old brick bridge that is all curves. I hope this cache will encourage you to look at it more closely!
This is a great cache to do on your bike.
The canal itself is teeming with life and there is a little spot just beneath the cache that makes a nice perch, to watch the canal roll by. This section of the Rochdale Canal is an area of Specific Scientific Interest for it's biodiversity, so please be especially careful if you pause for a picnic and make sure that you remove all of your litter.
Wear stout shoes and long trousers. The cache is too high up for a child to reach, so a grown up is needed (saying that I'm only 5' 4"). There are quite a few muggles here, so look out for fishermen, dog walkers and cyclists. Please ensure the cache is well wedged in and covered with vegetation when you leave. If it is not well wedged it can be washed out by heavy rain.
We have had this one muggled before, so I would not recommend it as a Travel Bug hidey-hole in case they ended up in muggle hands!
Placed with kind permission of the Manchester and Pennine Canal Trust. If you are thinking of placing a cache along here yourself, you must seek permission. They will ask you to meet with them to show them the cache and prove that it is not in a dangerous location. Please be careful; we have been muggled before and don't wish to attract attention. FTF: Lodgebarn Congratulations!
